I was approached by the City of Vancouver and the Trout Lake Little League in September to paint a baseball themed mural on a shipping container at their batting cage. This is what it looks like.
I just discovered an short article I was interviewed for regarding street art in Vancouver. This is from September 2014. It's called "Showing Up for Street and Graffiti Art in Vancouver" by Ehren Seeland for http://www.insidevancouver.ca/
Check it out!
During the weekend of July 11-12, 2014 Vans Footwear hosted a professional skateboard contest at the Hastings Skatepark in Vancouver, BC. It was a full scale event and some of the best riders showed up to compete. The day before the event opening, a group of invited artists including Virus, Milan Basic, Ben Tour and myself showed up to cover the walls of the bowl with new, custom artwork. I chose to bless the bowl with a large John Coltrane mural. Someone wrote these words in response to the piece I call 'Concrete Coltrane'.
-"A giant portrait of a giant at Mother Hastings by Mark Anderson. This 10-foot-tall John Coltrane symbolizes progression, creativity, improvisation, and aggression. Hands down my favorite Hastings artwork in the 12 years I've been skating there."
Here's some photo's from the painting party and the contest:
